Le Puy Urban Trail 2027

The Le Puy Urban Trail takes participants up the grand cathedral steps of Le Puy-en-Velay and past the Rocher Corneille, a volcanic rock topped by the Notre-Dame de France statue. This urban trail race is held in Haute-Loire, within France's Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, typically in late April. FitRunSports organizes the event, which offers trail races, hikes, and children's races, catering to first-timers, families, walkers, and experienced runners alike. The courses traverse the historic center of Le Puy-en-Velay, the nearby hills, and significant local landmarks, such as the fortress of Polignac. Distances differ by edition, with choices including short children's races, 6 km and 14 km hikes, 10 km urban trails, mid-distance races of approximately 18 to 22 km, and longer options up to the low-to-mid 30 km range; one noted long course extends to 37 km with 1,200 meters of elevation gain. The series originated with FitRunSports members and utilizes the unique geography of Le Puy, featuring narrow streets, stone stairways, ancient religious sites, and steep ascents within a city environment.
