Le Trail étoilé d’Orcières is a winter trail race on snow held at Orcières-Merlette 1850, in the Hautes-Alpes department of the Southern Alps. It begins in the late afternoon, with runners starting as the sun sets and finishing after dark. The primary trail choices are short yet demanding: the Rocherousse route covers approximately 14 km with 800 m of elevation gain, and the Forests route is about 8 km with 400 m of elevation gain. A 6 km "starry walk" with 270 m of climbing is also offered.
The courses combine passages through trapper-style terrain, snowshoe trails, and sections of the ski area, presenting more of a mountain snow excursion than a rapid, road-style competition. Bib collection and the start line are located at the Salle de la Grande Ourse within the leisure complex. Awards for the two trail races are presented in the evening, with the event concluding around nightfall. The walk is accessible to participants aged 10 and up, though those between 10 and 15 require accompaniment. This race serves as the winter iteration of the Trails des Lacs d’Orcières, originating from the same Alpine resort.
