Les Foulées Bessoises – L'Ascension de Saint-Quinis begins at Place Noel Blache in Besse-sur-Issole, a village in the Var department of Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur. This nature trail race, held in late winter, is organized by Trail Athlétisme Bessois, with Les 4 Saisons assisting in some editions. The event maintains a local focus, offering either a single 17.5 km trail with 513 meters of elevation gain, or two choices: a 15 km trail with 500 meters of climbing and a 10 km trail with 300 meters.
The course follows paths and trails near Besse-sur-Issole, Camps-la-Source, and occasionally Sainte-Anastasie. Road sections are managed by volunteers and municipal police. The longer route ascends towards the Chapel of Saint Quinis, a 16th-century chapel situated at approximately 600 meters elevation. Both licensed and non-licensed runners are eligible to participate, with specific documentation required for each. Aid stations are positioned along the course and at the finish line. The race also guides participants through the historic part of Besse-sur-Issole, highlighting its stone bridge over the Issole river and monuments dating from the 17th and 18th centuries.
