Les Foulées de la Saint-Aubinette is an Easter Monday event in Saint-Aubin, a village in the Avesnois area of northern France. It pairs a timed running race with a walk, so the day is open to runners chasing a result and people who simply want to join the route. The race distances are 6 km and 12 km, and the surface switches between dirt tracks and asphalt.
The event grew out of a successful pedestrian and sports rally in the village, which drew more than 250 people to the start line. The Saint-Aubinette association was created afterward to use sport as a way to show the village from a different angle. Volunteers help run the event, and the organizers aim for a sporty, festive, family-friendly day, with surprises during and after the route. One joke from the organizer sums up the Easter timing: there are no Easter eggs on course, “so as not to slow down the runners.”
