Les Foulées Pompignacaises begins at the town hall square in Pompignac, Gironde. Runners start under an arch facing the village event hall. This event is an April weekend of trail running and walking. Saturday evening offers night hikes and night trails of 9 km and 14 km. Sunday includes a 21 km trail, another 9 km trail, a 9 km walk, and a 1 km children's run. The night events require a headlamp. Runners seeking a greater challenge can enter the combined 35 km trail event spanning both days.
The courses follow local tracks near Pompignac, utilizing private land opened by owners specifically for the race. This grants participants access to areas of the commune not usually crossed. The event was established in 2003, initially managed by the municipality and now organized by an association bearing the same name. It attracts dedicated trail runners, amateur athletes, walkers, families, partners, and friends. The trail races are listed on the French Athletics Federation calendar. Food is available on site, and the Saturday night races conclude with a DJ party, giving the weekend a community gathering atmosphere alongside its race schedule.
