Les Galopades Tranchaises is a running and walking series in La Tranche-sur-Mer, a seaside town on France’s Atlantic coast. The main weekend is held on the last weekend of March, with trail races of 4 km, 8.5 km, 15 km, and 22 km for runners who want natural terrain rather than road racing. The programme also includes a 15 km night trail, 7.5 km day and night walks with or without poles, and Galopettes athletics activities for children.
The routes use the local mix of dunes, beaches, forest paths, and seafront ground, so the event feels closely tied to the coast. A separate summer Beach Run Tranchaise adds a 10.5 km race run only along the sea, either solo or as a duo relay. The first Galopades were started by parents from the school of the sea, and the association followed soon after. Longeville Athlétique Club supports the organisers so the races can sit on the French Athletics Federation’s off-stadium running calendar.
