A parade of headlamps across the snow defines Les Lumières de la Muzelle, a winter snow-trail race at Les Deux Alpes in the French Alps. Organized by the Les 2 Alpes Trail association, it starts runners around sunset, sending them into the dark with city and village lights visible below and light installations marking sections of the course. The event provides four distances: 11km, 16km, 21km, and 42km.
The 11km route is predominantly downhill, featuring 275m of ascent and 675m of descent, offering a night-running introduction without significant mountain challenge. The 16km begins in daylight and concludes at dusk, incorporating 500m of climbing and 900m of descent. The 21km is designed for seasoned trail runners, with 750m of ascent and 1150m of descent on snow. The 42km presents the most demanding challenge: a snow marathon for robust trail runners, including 1650m of climbing and 2050m of descent.
