Les Nuits Blanches du Pilat is a snowy night trail race held in Le Bessat, a village in the Pilat Massif situated at approximately 1,200 metres elevation. Participants begin at 6:00 PM, entering a mountain and forest course under darkness, where cold weather and potential snow contribute to the challenge. The primary distance is 15 km with 400 metres of elevation gain, making it accessible for many trail runners yet demanding in winter night conditions.
The event is an early proponent of the Trail Blanc Nocturne concept, attracting 1,500 participants annually before reaching capacity. The course features a 2 km loop that passes the start line, offering friends, family, and spectators an opportunity to view runners mid-event. Since 2010, SANG POUR SANG SPORT has directed all event profits toward lymphoma research, supporting initiatives like the Projet Sport program within the hematology department at Lyon Sud hospital, which assists adolescents and young adults post-treatment.
