Les Traillades begins in Taillades, a Vaucluse village near the Luberon, sending runners onto rough Provençal trails in early October. The event offers several distances: a 22 km trail, Les Mulets, with 1,280 m of elevation gain; the 11.6 km Les Galinettes with 682 m of gain; the 8.6 km Les Pomponettes with 278 m of gain; an 8.6 km Nordic walk; a 2.5 km children’s trail; and a 1 km activity for very young children.
The routes are within the Luberon Regional Natural Park, crossing uneven ground in the Petit Luberon massif and offering expansive views from the hills. The Association Sportive des Sapeurs-Pompiers de Cavaillon organizes the day, welcoming trail runners, road runners, hikers, walkers, and families, not a specific niche of participants. The event has implemented practical environmental measures, such as using reusable foldable cups instead of disposable ones, reducing plastic in prizes, and prioritizing local sponsors. Live GPS tracking via an app allows friends to follow runners, with alerts serving as a safety measure.
