Marche Nordique sur le Plateau des Grandes Terres is a spring Nordic walking event in Vénissieux, near Lyon, based at Gymnase Alain Colas on avenue Jean Moulin. The morning includes three distances: a timed race of just over 10.5 km, a 9 km leisure walk, and a 4 km intergenerational walk. The timed race begins at 09:00, followed by the 9 km at 09:15 and the 4 km at 09:45. This is the event's 14th edition, with recent participation numbering a few hundred walkers across all formats.
The competitive course is bronze-labeled by the French athletics federation and is also a round for the AURA Nordic walking championships, attracting licensed Nordic walkers alongside local participants. Bib pickup is at the gymnasium from early morning. The timed race starts 500 metres away at the entrance to the Plateau des Grandes Terres; the 9 km and 4 km routes start directly from the gymnasium. The 9 km leisure option typically draws the largest field, while the short intergenerational route is intended for families and younger walkers, with free entry for children under 14.
