Odysséa Brest is the local event in Brest for Odysséa, a French charity race and walk series supporting breast cancer research and patient aid. The program includes 10 km and 5 km runs, 9 km and 5 km walks, and virtual 10 km and 5 km options. This September event has approximately 2,700 registered participants in Brest.
Odysséa was founded by international athlete Frédérique Quentin and physiotherapist Frédérique Jules. Their first race in Paris drew 1,000 women from the Military School area to the Eiffel Tower. The series expanded to cities such as Brest, Nantes, Bayonne, Chambéry, Dijon, Toulouse, Auxerre, Saint-Jean-de-Luz, and Reunion Island. Race villages gather additional donations for breast cancer research organizations and patient groups, including Institut Gustave-Roussy, Institut Curie, Europa Donna, Toujours Femmes, AVEC, Vivre comme avant, and Profilic. Funded projects include medical research and assistance for patients with daily expenses like wigs or childcare during chemotherapy.
