The Open de Fast Hiking Monts de Flandre is a fast hiking event held in mid-April in Berthen, Nord department, Hauts-de-France. It features 8 km and 16 km routes on hilly trails. The shorter route serves as a warm-up, while the longer route is designed for a more strenuous effort. Fast hiking is positioned between hiking and trail running; the organizer explains that a trail runner might walk, but a fast hiker might run.
The FFRandonnée organizes this event in the Monts de Flandre. The timed course challenges endurance, speed, and navigation. Participants navigate independently using a provided GPX track and a paper map distributed at the start, distinguishing it from a simply marked race. The event targets sporty hikers, Nordic walkers, and trail runners, with mandatory registration and limited capacity. Registration includes insurance, an official bib, refreshments at the start, a snack at the finish, a finisher medal, a microfiber towel, performance rankings, and post-race photos.
