Raid pédestre Le Puy-Firminy is an annual night running and walking raid from Le Puy-en-Velay in Haute-Loire to Firminy in the neighboring Loire department. The main route is 69 km and starts at midnight from Stade Lafayette in Le Puy, while the shorter Rando Beaux Firminy option covers 39 km from Beaux with an early-morning start. Walkers and runners both enter, and the long route has to be finished within 15 hours.
The route heads through countryside in the dark, with much of the field moving under the stars before reaching Firminy in the morning. The longer course passes the Loire gorges, the Emblavez area, and the Velay mountains, with roughly 1,500 m of climbing in the fuller course description. CLCS Firminy has organized the event since 1968, aid stations are provided along the way, and participants get a meal at the finish.
