The Sara Korrika Trail is a mountain trail running event held annually in late March in Sare, a Basque village located in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques department of south-west France. The primary SKT race covers 22 km. The event also offers alternative distances, including a 25 km route with 1,600 m of elevation gain and a 16 km route with 600 m of elevation gain. Additionally, a vertical kilometre race takes place on Saturday afternoon, serving as an intense uphill workout for some participants prior to the main trail events.
The courses ascend from Sare into the Pyrenean foothills, with some sections tracing the path of the Petit Train de la Rhune. At this time of year, rain significantly impacts the course, potentially making trail sections slick rather than merely wet. The village of Sare provides a distinct Basque atmosphere for the race, featuring traditional, colourful houses situated at the base of the mountains. The Elgar Xut challenge connects multiple steep local races: the 3 KV, SKV, Défi de la Rhune, and Ttutturru Xut.
