Thurtrail - Mitzach is a spring trail-running event in Mitzach, organized by Ski Club Ranspach on the Rossberg massif. It offers runners four choices: the 10 km Sentier M, run solo or as a duo; the 18 km La Mitzachoise; the 30 km Le Rossberg; and the 53 km Les 3 Vallons. The distances accommodate both newer trail runners and those seeking a long mountain day, with the two longer races also offering UTMB qualification.
The course menu centers on climbing: Sentier M has 360 m of ascent, La Mitzachoise has 650 m, Le Rossberg has 1100 m, and Les 3 Vallons reaches 2600 m. The long race begins early, with shorter races starting later in the morning. The event also involves local families through the Thur schools challenge, a 1000 m run for primary-school children (CP to CM2), with no timing or rankings and a prize for the school with the most participants. A mountaineer acts as the race patron, fitting the event’s mountain setting and its focus on trail runners, volunteers, spectators, partners, and local schools sharing the same weekend.
