The Trail Blanc Vauban by Night is a 14 km snow trail race in Briançon, located in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region of the French Alps. Participants start after dark on a course featuring winter footing and 650 meters of elevation gain within an XXS-format trail.
The route incorporates the historic Vauban fortifications surrounding Briançon, making the race as much about the old stone walls and mountain defenses as it is about snow and headlamps. Briançon holds the distinction of being the highest town in France and Europe. Its forts were constructed by Vauban in the 17th century to aid in defending the region from Austria. The event is among the older French snow-trail races and traditionally marks the opening of the snow trail season, although the next edition's confirmation is pending.
