The Trail des Chouans is a nature run held in Olivet, Mayenne, organized by Etoile Sportive d'Olivet since 2011. As the department's oldest trail race, it offers two distances, 9 km and 16 km, suitable for those preferring a countryside run over a mountain ultra.
The course crosses the terrain around Olivet and Le Genest-Saint-Isle, featuring rolling paths through sunken lanes, meadows, and river crossings. The route is altered annually by the organizers, occasionally incorporating locations like the Abbey of Clairmont. The race name references Jean Cottereau, known as Jean Chouan, who historically traveled these routes. The organizing club comprises around thirty trail runners, with weekly coached sessions and a Nordic walking group, lending the event a community feel distinct from large commercial races.
