Trail des Lucioles Frontignan sends runners into the Gardiole massif after dark, with headlamps lighting the paths above Frontignan between Montpellier and Sète. The race offers a 7 km trail with 225 m of climbing, a 15 km trail with 390 m of climbing, and a 7 km Nordic walk on the same route as the shorter run. Entries are capped at 450, so it stays fairly small, and the 15 km can be run solo or as a duo.
The shorter course is the more accessible option, while the longer one climbs higher and gives runners night views across the region. The event is now into its 14th edition, which gives it a local history rather than a one-off feel. Walkers, occasional trail runners, and more experienced runners all fit into the format. At the finish, every participant gets a brasucade, the local mussel feast that makes the post-race part feel very Frontignan.
