Trail Drôme en Baronnies takes place in mid-April in Buis-les-Baronnies, within the Baronnies Provençales Regional Natural Park. Participants can select routes of 10 km, 21 km, or 42 km, accommodating both novice trail runners and those seeking a substantial mountain-style challenge. Each year, the event attracts approximately 1,300 to 2,400 participants, creating a lively race atmosphere without the scale of a major city marathon.
The three courses are named: Sur les Traces des Barons for the 42 km, Autour du Saint-Julien for the 21 km, and Au Milieu for the 10 km. The 42 km route includes cut-off times, with checkpoints at the Buis aid station (around 20 km) and at 28 km, ensuring it remains a structured endurance competition. This series has been held for 17 years and has twice hosted the French Championships. In addition to the races, participants receive practical services like osteopaths, physiotherapists, meals, and access to a local producers' market, contributing to a community-focused, competitive event.
