Trail du Bessin de nuit is a small trail race held in Le Fresne-Camilly, a village in Calvados near Caen. The night event features a 9 km Trail Découverte, starting at 7:00 PM. The main Trail du Bessin event includes 11 km and 22 km trail races. This is a local nature-running event, with routes set in protected countryside, not on town streets.
The longer Trail du Bessin races attract several hundred participants; the previous edition saw nearly 500 starters, with around 400 runners in the 11 km and 22 km races. Volunteers from the Foyer rural, led by president Jacques Landemaine, organize the race, managing course marking and runner safety. Now in its 45th edition, the event has long-standing traditions and is part of the Trail Tour Basse Normandie. Organizers request that runners respect the natural environment by carrying out all waste, including wrappers, gels, and drink containers.
