The Trail du Bœuf de Mèze begins at the Préau des Sesquiers in Mèze, located in the Hérault department of southern France. This local trail-running event, organized by Les Mille Pattes, takes place in February and offers two race distances: 15 km with approximately 200 m of elevation gain, and 8.5 km with approximately 150 m of elevation gain. An 8 km walk or hike is also available, ensuring the day accommodates more than just runners.
The courses are short and sufficiently hilly to offer a trail running feel, designed for a broad range of participants rather than exclusively specialists. Bib collection, starts, and the post-race gathering all occur at the same location, with awards presented around midday. This event is now in its thirty-eighth year, and recent editions have attracted over 350 participants. A distinctive local element is the finish-line brasucade, a mussel dish strongly associated with the Thau lagoon region.
