Trail du Boivre is a winter night trail race starting from the Base nautique du Pointeau in Saint-Brevin-les-Pins, on the Atlantic coast south of the Loire estuary. ACBSE Athlétisme organizes it, offering two adult-only distances: 8 km and 15 km. Both races begin after dark, require runners to carry their own gear, and mandate a headlamp and visibility equipment. Over 400 runners are expected, and the event sells out; bib resale and private transfers are not permitted.
The route is designed to minimize pavement. From the nautical base, runners proceed along the beach toward the Pierre-Attelée forest, navigating soft sand, firmer sand, dunes, forest tracks, and bark-covered paths. The return journey follows the marked GR8 bark path, with a section of the beach overlapping with the local Foulées des dunes sand race. Approximately sixty volunteers, primarily from ACBSE Athlétisme, manage organization and safety, with over fifty stationed on the course to guide runners in the dark.
