Trail Du Maconnais is a trail running series in southern Burgundy, based around Macon and the Solutre-Pouilly-Vergisson area. Organized by Mille Pattes Macon, it gives runners a choice of short, middle, and longer off-road races rather than a single fixed distance. The usual program sits around 10 km, 16 km, and 28 km, with climbing that can range from about 250 m on the short course to more than 1,000 m on the longest one. It is an autumn race, with recent editions drawing a few hundred runners rather than a huge city-race field.
The courses use the hills and viewpoints around Solutre-Pouilly-Vergisson, including the famous rock formations that make this part of the Maconnais easy to recognize. The event began as a nature race and mixed relay, then added discovery and expert formats before taking the Trail Du Maconnais name and moving to Macon-Loche. Club runners, local trail runners, and visitors all fit the event, and one recent edition included an athletics club from Mulhouse among roughly 400 participants testing new courses.
