The Trail du Pays des Chateaux - Cheverny offers trail races in Cheverny, featuring 63 km, 35 km, and 10 km distances. It takes place alongside the Cheverny marathon and is now in its 22nd year. Beyond the ultra-distance event, the shorter trails provide opportunities for competitive club runners and local participants within the same event.
The course crosses the forest of Saint-Gervais, a section known to challenge runners even when the lead pack is moving quickly. Pierre Richer, a runner from Loir-et-Cher who had previously competed in the Cheverny 10 km, won the 63 km race in 4:48:51, reaching the 42 km mark in under three hours. Race director Pascal Nourrisson noted a more competitive field than in the prior year, a sentiment reflected in the results: winning times for men decreased by approximately twenty-two minutes over 63 km, nine minutes over 35 km, and seven minutes over 10 km. Local runners like Julie Chevallier were also among the notable participants.
