Trail du Wurzel is a weekend trail-running series held at the sports centre in Villé, Bas-Rhin, Alsace. It offers runners several options to enter the hills: short races of 10 to 13 km, middle-distance trails of 26 km and approximately 52 km, and an 85 km Tour du Wurzel with 3,800 m of climbing. The series also features a two-person relay, allowing teams to share the longer challenge.
The climbing is a key feature: the 13 km Montée de la Honel has 580 m of positive elevation, and La Roche des Fées covers 26 km with 1,100 m. The relay splits the distance into legs of 34 km with 1,500 m of climbing and 18 km with 950 m. Children can participate in "Lutins" races, with 600 m for ages 5 to 9 and 1,100 m for ages 10 to 13. WASA organizes the event, with a straightforward finish-area setup including burgers, tarte flambée, drinks, toilets, changing rooms, showers, and nearby free public and camper-van parking.
