La Sarmate - Les Survivants guides runners through a 7.75 km loop in Sermiers, a village within the Marne department of France’s Grand Est region. This backyard ultra-style trail race occurs in early April. Complete the loop within one hour, then start again. Continue until you exceed the time limit or are the final participant remaining. The race's tagline, “Be the last survivor,” accurately reflects the elimination format.
The loop crosses forest, vineyards, and open countryside surrounding Sermiers, presenting a challenge that blends trail running with repeated time trials. The 7.75 km distance is the most common trail choice in the La Sarmate series. The event also incorporates terms like trail, forest, grapes, nature, and backyard. While one course detail notes 12 loops of 645.833 m, the core objective remains: finish the 7.75 km circuit within the hour to continue racing.
