Trail'N Loue begins and ends in Mouthier-Haute-Pierre, a village in the Doubs department of Bourgogne-Franche-Comté, taking place over a full weekend near the end of April. This trail-running series in the Loue valley offers distances from short children’s races to demanding mountain-style efforts. Distances listed include 500 m, 1.5 km, 3 km, 4.5 km, 10 km, 12 km, 18 km, 35 km, 53 km, and 67 km, varying by edition. Significant climbing is present even on shorter routes, with examples like 600 m of elevation gain over 10 km, 800 m over 18 km, 1,700 m over 35 km, and 4,000 m on the 67 km duo race.
The courses traverse technical trails above the Loue river, passing through forests, limestone cliffs, and the steep Jura reculées near Mouthier-Haute-Pierre. The variety of race options caters to different runners: children have short dedicated races, less experienced trail runners can choose a shorter distance, and seasoned runners can tackle the 53 km or 67 km routes with substantial elevation. A start village is set up for the weekend, making the event a gathering point for runners, families, and supporters in the valley, rather than just a single start line.
