Trail Nocturne de Beaugeay sends runners into the Charente countryside after dark, with headlamps doing the work once daylight drops. It is based in the small village of Beaugeay and is run as a winter night trail between the Christmas holidays and the end of the year. The programme includes a 13 km race, a 5 km race, and a 5 km walk, with children’s races added to make the evening wider than a standard trail start list.
The route is about quiet rural paths, unusual local spots, and the simple challenge of reading the ground by lamp light. More than 400 participants are expected, supported by around forty volunteers, and local club runners have used it both as a social outing and a competitive race, with several category podiums recorded. A joëlette team has also joined the 5 km trail, which gives the event an inclusive side. The profits go to SAMSAH TSA 17, a support service for autistic adults, and to the parents’ association for the schools of Beaugeay, Moëze, and Saint-Froult.
