Trail Nocturne du Monorail 2026

Trail Nocturne du Monorail is a night trail race in Cottance, a village in the Loire department of Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes. Runners can choose between 7 km, 12 km, or 20 km. The short option is an untimed discovery run, while the longer routes include technical trail work and climbing. The 20 km course offers approximately 450 m of elevation gain, with event details indicating a range of about 250 to 500 m across all routes. The race takes place in late October and incorporates a Halloween theme, featuring headlamps and costumes. The routes utilize the path of an old railway line and incorporate the local legend of a phantom monorail intended to connect Feurs and Panissières, which was never completed. The 12 km and 20 km courses are designed for runners seeking a challenging evening on nature trails, and the race often serves as preparation for the Sainté-Lyon event. La Foulée Forézienne is the organizing club. Starts are staggered by distance, and soup is provided at the finish.
