The Trail Première Bataille de la Marne begins and ends at the base of the Monument of the 1st Battle of the Marne in Mondement-Montgivroux, Marne, France. Sézanne Athlé and the commune of Allemant organize this event, offering participants two trail choices: a 12 km route with approximately 200 meters of elevation gain, or a 25 km route with approximately 500 meters of elevation gain. The event also features a timed 12 km Nordic walk and a non-timed 12 km walk or hike, catering to a broader audience than just trail runners.
The routes traverse the rolling paths of the Marne, passing historical sites from the September 1914 battles. This historical context provides a distinct local-history setting for the race, beyond a simple countryside course. The timed Nordic walk adheres to specific regulations, prohibiting running and resulting in disqualification if violated. Awards are presented to the top three male and female finishers. On-site registration is available just before each event for a small additional fee, with bibs for timed races being distributed under a tent near the start line.
