The Trail Urbain de Fougères is an urban trail race held in September in Fougères, a medieval city in Ille-et-Vilaine, Brittany. The adult races take place at night, offering 9 km, 17 km, and 23 km distances. The longest route features approximately 400 meters of elevation gain. This event combines road running with trail running, using the city itself as the course. Races begin around sunset and conclude after dark. Children’s races are also available for ages 5 to 15, meaning the race village at the Jardin des fêtes caters to all participants.
The routes guide runners through Fougères’ protected heritage sites, past significant monuments, and include passage through the castle, giving the race a distinct local character. The event coincides with France’s Heritage Days, making the weekend a blend of city exploration and racing. The event includes musical performances, local aid stations, food, beverages, and finisher awards. Registration must be completed in advance, and a portion of each entry fee supports the association Tous Unis Pour Ewen.
