About

Trails des Monts d'Amain is a small trail-running and walking event based in Courtomer, in the Orne department of Normandy. The program has two timed trail races, 24 km and 12 km, plus 10 km and 5 km solidarity walks. The trail races are capped at 300 bibs across both distances, with no same-day sign-up for runners, while walkers can register on site and the walks are open to everyone. The event is young, with its first edition held recently, and the race day is scheduled for a Sunday in early October. Both races start and finish in Courtomer, then use fields and paths around Courtomer, Brullemail, Ferrières-la-Verrerie, and Tellières-le-Plessis. A standout section passes through the park of the Château de Courtomer, which gives the route a local landmark rather than just anonymous farm tracks. The 24 km race has aid stations at 6 km and 16 km, and runners who have not passed 16 km by early afternoon are stopped. The event is organized by Les Chemins des Monts d'Amain, led by Denis Lambert, and its proceeds support Sées pour Elles and France Alzheimer Orne. Prizes go to the first three men and women in both trail races, and every participant receives something at the finish.
