Ultra Trail Poulx - Dernier Survivant is a mid-December backyard ultra held in Poulx, Gard, Occitanie, southern France, situated between Nîmes, Uzès, and the Pont du Gard. Also known as the Infinity Trail de Poulx, it features a repeated loop instead of a fixed finish distance. Runners begin a 6.704 km circuit with 225 metres of elevation gain, and they must complete it in under an hour before the next loop commences. This specific loop distance is calculated so that at this pace, 24 hours totals 100 miles.
The race takes place in the Gardon massif, a protected natural area and a UNESCO French Biosphere Reserve, offering forest paths and clear views over the cliffs. The format is straightforward: continue completing the loop until all other participants have withdrawn. The final runner able to start the next lap is the winner, echoing the organiser's statement, “In the end, there will be only one!” It is designed for trail runners who appreciate peculiar, persistent challenges alongside endurance, as the cumulative climbing increases rapidly and the race concludes only when a single survivor remains.
