Les Jas du Ventoux
Les Jas du Ventoux is a 21 km mountain half marathon held at the Domaine Bélézy visitor parking on the edge of Bédoin, below Mont Ventoux. It takes place on a Sunday in October, beginning at 9:30 AM, and includes approximately 1,170 metres of climbing with nearly the same amount of descent. Déniv84, a non-profit association, organizes the race with support from the municipality of Bédoin.
The route is designed around the jas, the old shepherds’ huts linked to the history of Ventoux and Bédoin. Consequently, the race emphasizes mountain terrain and local heritage over a road half marathon pace. Runners start and finish at Domaine Bélézy, collect bibs there on race morning with ID or a current license, and race without poles, which are prohibited. Aid stations offer water, coke, fresh fruit, dried fruit, and sugar, with clean zones as part of the race’s “Clean Mountain Operation.” This event is in its fourth edition, and the awards ceremony commences at noon back at the visitor parking area.
Les jas du ventoux - Bédoin
Les Jas du Ventoux is a 21 km mountain half marathon starting and finishing at the Domaine Bélézy visitor parking on the edge of Bédoin. It takes place on a Sunday in October, organized by Déniv84, a local association, with support from the commune of Bédoin. The race has had only a few editions, and poles are not permitted.
The course includes approximately 1,170 metres of climbing and a similar amount of descent, marking it as a true mountain run. Its theme centers on the jas, the old shepherd huts associated with the Ventoux region, guiding runners through a more tranquil aspect of Bédoin’s landscape. Aid stations provide water, coke, fresh fruit, dried fruit, and sugar, with designated clean zones at each stop as part of the race’s “Clean Mountain” initiative.
LA TOU'RUN - La Tour-d'Aigues
LA TOU'RUN is a trail running event held in La Tour-d'Aigues. The race village and bib pickup are located at Place Jean Jaurès, in front of the Château. Three timed trail routes are offered: a 10 km with 200 meters of elevation gain, a 16 km with 370 meters, and a 21 km with 530 meters. The 16 km and 21 km races begin in the morning, followed by the 10 km and the walking options.
Additionally, a solidarity walk of 6 or 10 km is available between La Tour-d'Aigues and La Bastidonne, with reduced prices for children. All proceeds benefit Institut du Sein Marseille Provence, giving the event a charitable purpose. Awards are presented to the top three men and women in each race. Each female participant receives a rose, and a buffet with drinks awaits runners at the finish. Advance registration is required, as on-site sign-ups are not permitted and places are limited.
Course des châteaux du Puy-Sainte-Réparade - Le Puy-Sainte-Réparade
Course des Châteaux du Puy-Sainte-Réparade is a new race series held within the wine estates surrounding Le Puy-Sainte-Réparade, north of Aix-en-Provence. Participants can select a 10 km race or a 21 km race, with a 6 km option for walkers. The routes are not flat road loops; the short race involves approximately 170 meters of climbing, the 21 km race about 340 meters, and the walk includes about 120 meters of ascent. Starts are from Gymnase Cosec on avenue du Stade, with the longer race commencing first, followed by the shorter race, and then the walk.
The course consists of roughly half trails and vineyards, and half roads, providing a countryside trail character distinct from a typical town run. It passes through Château de Fonscolombe, Château Paradis, Château La Coste, and Tour Campanets. A key attraction is the access granted to wine domains not usually open to the public. The local club KM 610 established the event with backing from the town hall, following a significant absence of competitive running in the Puy-Sainte-Réparade countryside. Demand was immediate, with all 800 bibs sold by late May. Organizer Max Bajolle cited the route, varied distances, artistic elements, and engagement with younger runners via social media as contributing factors.
Semi-Marathon et 10 km de la Durance
The Semi-Marathon et 10 km de la Durance is a road race held in November in Charleval-en-Provence, located in the Bouches-du-Rhône department of southern France. Participants can select either a 21.1 km half marathon or a 10 km race. Both are promoted as fast courses, with the 10 km specifically designed for those aiming for a personal best. Participation is limited to 1,100 runners, making it a select event rather than a large-scale city race.
The course traces the Durance riverbanks through a Provençal landscape of open fields, garrigue, and olive groves, with mountains visible in the distance. The half marathon is presented as the more challenging performance option, while the undulating 10 km offers a shorter distance with potential for record-breaking times. As a relatively new event, its primary appeal lies in straightforward, fast road running in rural Provence, under the gentle November sun, with a smaller field than typically seen at major mass participation races.
Trail des Truffières
The Trail des Truffières begins in Saint-Paul-Trois-Châteaux, Drôme, within the Tricastin region of the Rhône Valley. This trail event, held in mid-November, offers four distances: 11.8 km, 20.6 km, 27.9 km, and 48.5 km. The longest race involves approximately 1500 meters of climbing, and the 28 km route features about 635 meters of ascent, providing options from a short run to a demanding day on the trails. Participants can compete individually or in pairs, with some races available in both daytime and nighttime formats.
The courses traverse singletrack and paths winding through former truffle grounds, inspiring the event's name and theme. Starting from the Gymnase du Resseguin, runners proceed into the hills of Chameau and Chatillon, cross sections of the Clansayes plateau, and pass through Bois Noir. Mont Ventoux is visible from certain points along the routes. The race embraces its truffle connection with the motto “Si t'es champion, appuie sur le champignon !”, a playful phrase referencing mushrooms and accelerating.
Course du balli - Saint-Cannat
The Course du Bailli begins at the Gymnase de la Seigneurie in Saint-Cannat. The morning features 7 km, 11.5 km, and 21 km foot races. This event includes both running and walking options for the 7 km and 11.5 km distances, distinguishing it from a single-distance road race. Separate races are organized for children aged 6-8 and 9-10.
The event supports La Maison de Gardanne, a palliative care facility, with all profits directed to it. The prior edition generated close to EUR6,000, underscoring the race's charitable aim. Runners, walkers, families, and children gather at the event's central location in Saint-Cannat. Registration is managed via Kms.fr, and information can be found on the race's Facebook page and the Saint-Cannat municipal website.
Trail Drome en Baronnies
The Trail Drôme en Baronnies trail running series takes place in mid-April in Buis-les-Baronnies, located within the Baronnies Provençales Regional Natural Park. Participants can select from 10 km, 21 km, or 42 km routes, catering to both those preferring shorter trail runs and individuals seeking a marathon-distance challenge.
The event is in its 17th year and has previously hosted the French Championships on two occasions. Each running attracts approximately 1,300 to 2,400 participants. The race weekend includes amenities like osteopaths, physiotherapists, meals, and a local producers' market, contributing to the atmosphere in Buis-les-Baronnies.
Trail drome - Bédoin
The Trail drome - Bédoin is an 8 km discovery trail outing in Bédoin, starting from Place de la République at 2 PM on a Téléthon event day. The Ventoux Trail Club organizes it as a course-promenade, making it an easy introduction to trail running and walking rather than a demanding race for specialists.
The format is straightforward: one donation counts as one registration, with all donations supporting the Téléthon. Participants can register on site, maintaining the open, local character of an event designed for walkers, beginners, and anyone interested in trying trail running in the Ventoux area.
Trail Drôme - Buis-les-Baronnies
The Trail Drôme - Buis-les-Baronnies, held in mid-April in Buis-les-Baronnies within the Baronnies Provençales Regional Natural Park, features a series of trail runs instead of a single event. Options include approximately 10 km, 21 km, a 33 km route from Montbrun to Buis, and a 42 km race named Sur les Traces des Barons. This event, now in its 17th year, attracts between 1,300 and 2,400 participants each edition and has previously hosted the French championships on two occasions.
The primary long-distance race covers 41.76 km with 2,012 m of elevation gain and descent. The 21 km Autour du Saint-Julien includes 874 m of elevation gain, while the 10 km Au Milieu des Oliviers, though shorter, has 374 m of elevation change. The Montbrun / Buis Trail & terroir route begins away from Buis, utilizing an early shuttle, giving it a point-to-point character. Participants receive practical assistance like osteopath and physiotherapy services, a meal, and access to a local producers' market. A free, non-competitive Kids Trail for children aged 6 to 11, with distances of 600 m, 800 m, and 1,200 m, is also part of the weekend activities.
La menerbienne - Ménerbes
La Ménerbienne is a spring race day in Ménerbes, France, organized by Ménerbes Running. The program offers several options: 6 km, 12 km, and 21 km running races, a timed 12 km sportive walk, a 6 km hike, and a free children’s race with on-site registration.
The 12 km race is part of the Challenge Vauclusien, attracting runners participating in that local series as well as those opting for shorter or longer distances. Bibs can be collected the afternoon before at Terre de Running in Coustellet, with another pickup window on race morning from 7:30.
