Amberaid 30 & Petit Raid are October trail races starting from Ashover Village Hall in the Amber Valley, Derbyshire, near the eastern edge of the Peak District. Amberaid is the longer option at 31 miles, with Petit Raid offering runners a 20-mile version on the northern loop of the same route. Both races begin at 9:00 am and follow countryside paths and trails, not roads. Entry prices start at £28.
The Amberaid route follows a figure-of-eight layout with rolling terrain, short steep climbs, quick descents, open views, and woodland sections. The trails are largely unmarked, except for a few challenging spots, requiring runners to be proficient in following route notes, a GPX file, and their own marked map. Refreshment checkpoints are available along the course, and the full Amberaid has a 9-hour time limit.
