BigNightOut Winchester 2026

BigNightOut Winchester starts runners from Winchester Athletics Track after dark; headtorches or chest torches are required from the beginning. This is an evening trail race near Winchester in Hampshire, offering 22km and 12km distances on paths, travellers ways, and marked off-road sections. The course is marked with fluorescent directional signs, though runners should still carry the GPX route as signs may be moved or tampered with. The longer route goes from the city onto the South Downs Way, ascends to Cheesefoot Head, proceeds over Fawley toward Morestead, and uses MOD land at Deacons Hill before merging with the shorter race on the Pilgrims Trail. Both distances loop back toward Winchester via St Catherine's Hill, then follow the Itchen Way alongside the river to the athletics track. The event is designed for self-sufficient winter trail running: participants must carry a minimum of 500ml of fluid, wear appropriate clothing for variable weather, and collect their bibs at the event site prior to the start.
