The Grand Canal Canter Autumn offers marathon, half marathon, and 10K races along the Mid Devon canal path. All three distances follow the Grand Western Canal Path exclusively, beginning at Tiverton Canal Basin and proceeding towards Sampford Peverell. The path consists of hard-packed gravel, and the terrain is gently sloped, with approximately 90ft of elevation gain for the half marathon and 180ft for the marathon.
The marathon course consists of two circuits of the half marathon route, providing participants with a straightforward, predictable path instead of a complex road network. This race is ideal for those seeking a flat, quick run on solid paths, with the canal ensuring a clear route. The event is cup-free; participants must bring their own cup or bottle for aid station refills. A Spring edition of the Grand Canal Canter also takes place.
