The Jolly Hog Jog is a 10k race held in late December in Ripon, North Yorkshire, beginning at Hell Wath Nature Reserve. It is a multi-terrain race following an undulating route, primarily on footpaths through Studley parkland instead of fast, flat roads.
The course proceeds up Whitcliffe Lane, enters Mackershaw Woods, passes through Studley Deer Park, and goes by Monty’s bench, a memorial to a club co-founder and former president. Participants then exit Studley via the main gate, ascend Plumpton Lane, face a brief, steep incline within Mackershaw Woods, and loop back through Hell Wath woods towards the finish. Affiliated and unaffiliated runners have distinct entry fees, and those entering later receive a tree planted in place of the race T-shirt.
