The Jurassic Express Half Marathon is a March trail run on Dorset’s Jurassic Coast, starting from Swanage seafront on Shore Road. The main race is 21K, with shorter 16.5K and 10.5K options for runners who want the same coastal setting without the full half-marathon distance. It is a timed, supported event organised by UK Running Events, with marshals, first aid, water stations, and refreshments on the route.
The route runs from Swanage toward Corfe Castle, using firm chalk paths and sandy trails rather than flat road-race tarmac. Runners pass places such as Old Harry Rocks, Studland, and Studland Bay before finishing beneath the ruins of Corfe Castle. The detail that gives the event its name comes after the finish: runners can return to Swanage on a private vintage steam train along the heritage Swanage Railway line. Finishers also receive a medal, drink, goodies, and a personalised certificate.
