The Kingdom of Northumbria Coastal Ultra begins at Bamburgh Castle and proceeds south along the Northumberland coast to Druridge Bay Country Park. This point-to-point trail race, held in March, offers a 54 km ultra and a 27 km option. The 54 km race starts at Bamburgh, with the 27 km route commencing further south at Boulmer Lifeboat Station. As the finish differs from the start, participants require the event shuttle or their own transportation arrangements.
The course is predominantly runnable, not a mountain traverse, but the terrain varies. It includes coastal paths, beach sections, firm trail tracks, sand, gravel, and links through quiet villages. The route passes Beadnell Harbour, Craster, Dunstanburgh Castle, and Warkworth Castle before concluding at Druridge Bay. Wild Deer Events manages the race. The 54 km field is divided into two start waves, categorizing runners by their anticipated finish times relative to six and a half hours.
