The Spring Sunday Monsal Trail event begins at Bakewell Station in the Peak District, offering a half marathon and a 10K on a traffic-free trail. Both races utilize the Monsal Trail, a disused railway line near Bakewell. The terrain is straightforward, consisting of tarmac and hard-packed path, with no road traffic.
The half marathon extends to Millers Dale and returns, while the 10K follows the same path, turning back sooner. The route passes through old railway tunnels and over viaducts, providing views of the Derbyshire Dales between these enclosed sections. Races are also scheduled for Saturday, allowing participants to run on one day or across the entire weekend.
