A downhill run through Studley Royal deer park concludes the Round Ripon Ultra, a 35-mile circular trail race in North Yorkshire. The race begins and ends at Studley Roger Village Hall, typically held in October, and is open to solo runners or relay teams. With a field limit of 200 participants, it remains a small-scale ultra rather than a large, crowded event.
The course traces the northern part of the Ripon Rowel, featuring an undulating path through trails, woods, and moorland within the Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Participants must carry equipment suitable for changing weather, such as waterproofs, warm clothing, emergency food, water, and a fully charged phone. Four checkpoints, staffed by volunteers, offer water, sweets, cake, and additional savoury food, with restroom facilities available at the third checkpoint, approximately 19 miles into the race.
