Run Bolton Abbey offers each finisher a unique medal, crafted locally from fallen branches on the Bolton Abbey Estate. This November trail running event, held near Skipton, begins with wave starts shortly after 9am and features four race options: 10K, 10 mile, half marathon, and a 2.4 mile family fun run. The courses are off-road and hilly, with the 10K noted as significantly less challenging than the longer distances. Entry is limited to 1,200 participants; no entries will be accepted on the day. The event supports Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice and Sue Ryder's broader care and support initiatives.
The races navigate around the Abbey and traverse sections of the estate typically inaccessible to the public. Hundreds of participants compete across the various distances, ranging from families completing the short run to individuals tackling the 10 mile and half marathon routes, which have firm cut-off times. Race headquarters are located on the field opposite Cavendish Pavilions, providing water, toilets, and complimentary all-day parking. However, participants should come prepared as there are no showers, changing facilities, baggage storage, or distance markers. A one-minute silence for Remembrance Day takes place at the start-finish area at 11am.
