The Run Durham Hamsterley Remembrance Day 10 Miler is a challenging 10-mile race through Hamsterley Forest, County Durham, situated between Teesdale and Weardale. This traffic-free course has its hills and utilizes a single, precisely measured loop on mixed terrain paths and forest roads. The race begins and concludes at the Nest Car Park, located centrally along Hamsterley Forest Drive. Participation is limited to 250 runners aged 17 and over. The event includes chip timing provided by Timing4Sport, mile markers, and water stations positioned every 3 miles.
The route demands effort from the outset, featuring consistent uphill sections for the initial 5km before looping back towards the start/finish area. Race headquarters are established within Hamsterley Forest, with parking available at the Nest Car Park. Facilities include toilets, changing areas, a bag drop service, first aid support, and refreshments. All participants completing the race will receive a unique medal, and a race T-shirt is available for an additional fee. Awards are presented to the top three male and female finishers, with age group categories commencing at W35 and M40 in five-year increments. Additionally, UKA-affiliated clubs are eligible for team awards in both male and female categories.
