The Sikhs In The City Dawn To Dusk Ultra is structured around sunrise, sunset, and numerous short laps on the officially measured Fauja Singh Training Course. Participants run a 2.014 km loop, selecting from 10 km, 22 km, marathon, or an ultra category of 50 km-plus. The longer races commence at sunrise and conclude at sunset, with the 10 km starting later in the morning, giving the event the feel of a timed lap challenge rather than a traditional road race.
The lap system is straightforward: 11 laps award the 22 km medal, 21 laps award the marathon medal, and 25 laps or more qualify for the ultra. A feeding station is positioned at the start and finish of each lap, and runners can pause, rest, and resume their laps as needed, provided they inform the lap counters. Final standings are determined by the total distance covered before sunset, with participants permitted to finish a lap if they pass the marker before the cutoff time. The event includes chip timing, lap-time displays, supervised bag storage, parking, toilets, refreshments, changing rooms, and mobile paramedics, ensuring practicality for an extended day of repeated laps.
