The Skye Santa Dash is a Christmas fun run held in Portree on the Isle of Skye. Participants run through the town dressed as Santa, elves, reindeer, or other festive characters. The main Dash & Dawdle is a 1.75-mile route suitable for runners, walkers, children, strollers, and wheelchairs, not intended for serious racing. While older descriptions mention a 5k, the current event is a shorter town run at a relaxed pace, starting at 10:00 am from Somerled Square.
The event prioritizes costumes and community over race times. All participants receive a Santa hat band, and finishers get a medal. Prizes are awarded for the best individual and team outfits. Younger children can participate in the free Tinsel Toddler Dash in Somerled Square, and dogs can join the Santa Paws Parade, competing for best-dressed pooch. Hot chocolate and sausage rolls are provided at the finish. The event raises funds for Columba 1400, a Staffin-based charity that supports young people from Skye, including students from Portree High School.
