Beachy Head and the Seven Sisters give this point-to-point outing its challenge, with the route following the South Downs Way across open chalk country and onward toward Arundel. South Coast Challenge feels like the sort of long supported trail day where you can run it hard, jog the rougher bits, or settle into a steady walk-run rhythm without pretending the hills are incidental.
The course is signed, with Devil's Dyke in the mix and "pink arrows and glow-sticks for night sections" keeping things moving after dark. The field is broad, from runners chasing splits to walkers managing the day in chunks, and the support setup is unusually practical: "covered rest stops", food and drink, medical help, timing scans, "GPS tracking via the event app", and even "hot showers are offered" at base camp for those making a weekend of it.
