South Scotland Outdoor Festival

Drumlanrig Castle shapes this weekend's events, with trails, bikes, music, and muddy legs converging at the base of a 17th-century castle. The South Scotland Outdoor Festival serves as a "pilgrimage for adventurers' souls," particularly as the estate doubles as an Outlander filming location. It is easy to "feel like a Highlander on the run" once the paths diverge from the manicured castle grounds. The running courses traverse parks, hills, castle gardens, and private forest canopy. Gravel routes venture onto paths that "delve into hidden corners and rugged paths of Scotland." Road cyclists have a dedicated loop, including the challenging climb of Mennock Pass.
