The Thames Trail Ultra sends solo runners along the Thames Path from Iffley, south of Oxford, to Henley-on-Thames. This autumn point-to-point ultramarathon covers about 48 miles, beginning in the morning from Hawkwell House Hotel and concluding at the YMCA Y Centre. No relay teams are permitted; participants complete the entire river journey individually.
The course traces England’s longest river, utilizing a combination of towpath, tarmac, and muddy trail. It passes countryside, substantial riverside residences, villages, and established rowing clubs. Runners characterize it as a demanding Oxford-to-Henley run, while commending the waymarking. Formerly known as the Thames Trot, the race holds UTMB Index status in the 50K category. It provides five aid stations, GPS tracking, hot food, showers, and changing facilities at the finish.
