The Fairway Five Trail Race is a 5.2-mile trail run in Stockport, starting and finishing at Fairway Primary School. It is a small, chip-timed event with entries capped at 300 runners, open to adults, and organised by the Fairway Primary School PTA with technical support from Crazy Legs Events. The race is licensed through UK Athletics and the Trail Running Association, and all proceeds go back to the school PTA.
The route packs 115 metres of climbing into its short distance, making it more than a flat five-mile dash. Prizes go to the top three men and women, with age-category awards also offered, and every finisher receives a bottle of beer. The race began as a PTA-promoted event and is still closely tied to the school community rather than feeling like a large commercial race.
